Since my election as the Illinois APCO Executive Council Representative in 1996 I have had the opportunity to become increasingly involved in significant leadership roles for APCO International.  This began with my service on numerous committees as a member to then chairing multiple committees each year.  At my first Executive Council meeting in January 1997 I volunteered for the Management Committee.  Since August 2001 I have served as the Chair of the Management Committee.  As an original member of the Chapter Enhancement Task Force (CETF), Lyle Gallagher who was the chair asked me to take over when he became APCO International President.  The CETF evolved into the Member and Chapter Services Committee (MCSC) when the Executive Council decided that the work of the CETF should continue as a Standing Committee in service to the membership.  At that point I continued as the chair of the MCSC until September 2005. In August 2003, as a member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, I was asked to become the chair of the Committee.  In 2005 the Board of Officers appointed me as one of five Group Leaders serving the Member Services Group of Committees.  As a Group Leader I work with several committee and task force chairs in the following areas: develop their goals and objectives to ensure they are aligned with the Association’s Strategic Plan; budgets; semi-annual reports; and I report to the Board of Officers and Executive Council on the committee’s effort to reach their annual goals and thus support the mission of APCO.  As the Member Services Group Leader I liaison with the following committees: Awards; Commercial Advisory; Editorial Advisory; Historical; Member Chapter Services; Membership Task Force.  In 2006 I participated in the first APCO Registered Public Safety Leaders (RPL) Program and graduated in August 2007.   It has been my pleasure to have also worked actively with numerous Boards of Officers and APCO International staff in support of APCO and the Long Range Strategic Plan.

My hope now is to take the experience that I have gained over my 27 years of membership in APCO and continue my service as your 2nd Vice President.
